SketchUp App Reviews

My go-to cad programs had always been (from 1986) Acad and later, Solidworks. After Sketchup came out, Id use it to send clients crude representations of their projects, as that was the only public domain 3D program available which didnt require them to invest anything. Im retired now, but it took this long to get the app Id been looking for since 2008 when I got my first iPhone?? Oh well..... Im still an active designer though and after improvements and extensions brought the necessary features to Sketchup, its become the only program I use. And from that perspective, Im applauding Trimble for finally giving me what Ive been looking for for so many years. Ive spent the last hour or so exploring what drawings I have on Dropbox and 3D Warehouse and Im impressed. A few minor glitches, but overall, smooth, fast and accurate. Well worth the 10 bucks.

It would be nice if it supported pinching, zooming, and panning as you know it on all other iPad apps. It doesnt. Its frustrating to learn a whole new set of zoom and pan commands just for this one app. Also: doesnt support iCloud.

Thank you Sketchup. I design with Sketchup every day and have needed this app for a while. The app works pretty flawlessly, does everything I need it to do. I look forward to the day that I will be able to draw using the Sketchup app on my phone or iPad.

For me, the main reason to have this app would be to take it with me to the hardware store. However its not very useful if there isnt an easy way to measure entities on the fly. Please add a light-weight measuring tape tool.

Not only can you not measure something, it doesnt even display your measurement labels. Please add a tape measure AND measure labels.

Cant actually do anything with this other fan view project Wth

The app is perfect if youre looking for a way to help your customers visualize projects. Could use a few more special features like dimensions.

Thats all I wanted it for. Copying straight from email works best.
